DSSD Sorority Absence Policy & Form

Excused Absences
Kool Kids are only excused from practice for the following reasons:

  • Illness (doctor’s note required to return)

  • School activities (with prior approval from Director Wallace)

  • Extracurricular activities (must inform Director Wallace in advance)

  • Court-ordered visitation with the other parent (in-state or out-of-state)

  • Death in Family

  • Pre-planned family trips, vacations, or events (must inform Director Wallace in advance)

  • ➡️ Parents must provide school schedules in advance for review so Director Wallace and the coach remain on the same page about any conflicts.
    ➡️ In cases of visitation, Director Wallace will connect with the other parent to ensure your Kool Kid continues attending practices consistently.

Important Note: Although not every situation is listed here, once you submit your absence form, Director Wallace will review it and confirm whether the absence is considered excused or unexcused.

Unexcused Absences
The following are considered unexcused absences:

  • Lack of transportation (transportation is a parental responsibility).

  • Parent choosing not to bring their child to practice.

  • Homework/projects (must be completed outside of DSSD time).

  • Parent work schedule or vacations (arrangements must be made for drop-off and pick-up).

Accountability & Fees

  • Any unexcused absence or no-show will result in a $45 fee.

  • Fee must be paid by midnight the same day of the missed practice.

  • If unpaid by midnight, the fee doubles the following day.

  • Each additional day of nonpayment adds a $20 late fee.

  • All fees must be cleared before a Kool Kid may return to practice.

Reminder: When you signed your Kool Kid up for DSSD Sorority, you committed to making practice attendance a priority. Academics remain the top priority, but DSSD time is reserved for teamwork, discipline, and growth.

Performance Participation
If a Kool Kid is absent during a practice leading up to a major performance or show, please note:

  • Their participation in that performance or show is not guaranteed.

  • Director Wallace will determine if your Kool Kid is prepared to perform.

  • This policy ensures fairness to the team and maintains the quality of our performances.
